Grzegorz Smigielski is graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts (Painting Faculty) in Warsaw. He studied in the art studios of Prof. Jacek Sienicki, Prof. Ludwik Maciag, and Prof. Halina Chrostowska. He received his diploma in 1986.

Grzegorz Smigielski is well know for his sentiment for realism of the 30's and 50's as well as for his talent for portrait painting. He follows the tradition of the best Polish portraitists of the end of the XIXth and the beginning of the XXth century.

His work was presented at individual exhibitions in 1987 gallery Krzysztof Wojtarowicz PLLLOT Warsaw, 1993 Gallery Abakus (Warsaw Month of Painting), 1995 Iwaszkiewiczow Museum, Stawiska, 1998 Gallery Baumann, Warsaw, 2000 Gallery test, Warsaw, 2001 Gallery Promocyjna, Warsaw, 2003 Radio Zet, Warsaw, 2004 Station Nowa Gdynia, Lodz. He also particitated in many common exhibitions in Poland and other countries.
